Puppy Shipping

What is the process?

Once your deposit or payment for your puppy is received... then I need the name, address, two phone numbers, and the two closest airports to you in order to book a flight for your puppy.  I usually book flights around 1 week to 10 days in advance.  I ship puppies one day a week on Fridays, and typically on a flight that leaves Monroe, LA at 12:25pm.  The puppy USUALLY arrives to your airport anywhere between 5pm and 10pm depending on your location and flight schedules.   Not every airplane that arrives in your area is a "Pet Safe" plane...so when I book the flight it is important for you to know this and be willing to make accommodations to pick up your puppy at a time when a "Pet safe" plane will arrive. I will do my best to schedule things so that they are easiest for you, and myself as well.

Where do they put the puppies on the airplane?

The puppy gets a choice between a window and an aisle seat, near the middle of the plane.  JUST KIDDING!  They do ride in the cargo area, but there are certain planes that are considered "Pet Safe" with climate controlled, pressurized cargo areas.  The airline people tell me the puppies typically sleep the whole way, kind of like a baby does in a car.

What airline do you use?

I use Continental airlines whenever possible.  They have a great puppy program, and my puppies have always arrived safe and healthy.  I know all of the people by name that work for Continental at the airport in Monroe, and have their cell phone numbers.  They have mine.  If anything at all comes up...they will text me personally and I will notify you.  They take very good care of me.  Also if there is a delay of some kind, then Continental has a kennel facility and kennel staff in Houston where they take really good care of the babies should an overnight stay be needed.  This has only happened twice in my career of shipping puppies...usually everything goes pretty smoothly.

I have also used Delta, and do that when Continental does not service the area where you live, or if Continental cannot make the appropriate connections to get the puppy to you on a pet safe plane.

Can you take less money for shipping?

No! I'm sorry I wish it were less for you! The shipping charges are ACTUALLY what it costs to ship a puppy.  I do not make a profit on shipping.  It covers the airline ticket, crate, USDA paperwork from a licensed vet that is required for the puppy to travel, and other costs involved in the shipping process...insurance, etc...

I put a deposit on my puppy, can I pay the rest after the puppy gets here?

Your puppy has to be paid in full plus shipping 72 hours prior to the flight.  If you placed a deposit from my site, then I will need to either get your credit card over the phone or send you a paypal request for the balance...as there is no way to pay your balance on the site.

What do I need to take to the airport with me?

Your picture ID , bottled water to give your puppy a drink, paper towels and cleaner in case your puppy has soiled in the crate.  Usually the pups arrive clean because I am careful to make sure they eat, exercise, and have a potty before I put them in the crate at the airport, but accidents do happen so be prepared for that!  You don't want to have ride home with stinky poo!

Is there anything else I need to do before you ship my puppy?

Please download my guarantee under "available puppies" tab at the top of the website.  Return it to me via fax 318-255-2909, or scan and email having filled out your name, address, phone, email, and signature.  I will fill out the rest, and return a signed copy to you along with the puppy's shot record and other paperwork when I ship the puppy.  It will be attached in an envelope on top of the crate. If I do not receive the guarantee prior to shipping (at least a day), then I can't ship your puppy.

My puppy weighs less than 2#...can you ship him/her?

No...I absolutely will NOT ship any puppy until they weigh over 2#.  The risk for hypoglycemia is too great! I will have to keep your puppy until he/she is at least 2#, or you are welcome to drive and pick your puppy up prior to this point.

PLEASE PLEASE text me, call me, or send an email when your puppy arrives!  I have shipped puppies successfully enough times now that I don't worry like I used to...but I still would like to know that my baby has arrived safely to his/her new home!  PLEASE call me if your puppy does not eat within a few hours after arrival! And most of all...have fun, relax, and ENJOY your new family member!
